Joan Gaspar

Joan Gaspar (23/09/1966 Barcelona) 

Studied industrial design in the school of Artes y Oficios in Barcelona. In 1988 started work for VAPOR S.A manufacturing minimalist lamps. From 1992 collaborated with a variety of firms to create new product lines (Mery S.A, Industries Conesa S.A, Manufactures Rocal S.A, Santa & Cole S. A, B-Lux, Sellex, Daisalux S. A).Frtom 1996 collaborated closely with the company Marset Iluminacin, developing new products, and product direction for the company. His work has been selected on a variety of ocasions for the awards at FAD.
In 1995 received first prize in the Furniture Competition of the Comunidad Castilla la mancha, and in 2000 wins the first prize al the Valencia International Furniture Fair.
In 2001 was decorated with the Delta de Plata (silver trhopy) for the Atlas range of lamps designed for Marset Iluminacin.
Since 1998 has given classes in Materials and technoloy applied to industrial design, at Elisava School of design in Barcelona. In 2002 opened a professional design Studio in Barcelona working with various companies on new product concepts.
Since 2003, has given projects classes at EINA school of Art and Design in Barcelona. His work has been Publisher in numerous nacional and internacional design magazines. In 2003 Phaidon editorial included various of his products in the book "SPOON" about the best new young industrial designers in the World.
