    Mario Ferrarini

Mario Ferrarini was born in Como in 1978 and obtained a degree in Industrial Design from the Milan Polytechnic. In 2007, he opened an office in Como and then in Lugano, starting an intense period of design and consulting work for international brands regarding product design, furniture, objects and installations. Ferrarini's work is distinguished by a functional approach and an essential, elegant and rigorous style. His origins in Como inspired by the rationalism and functionalism of architects Giuseppe Terragni and Cesare Cattaneo influenced the designer's poetics. His objects, furniture and products are defined by sinuous and sculptural forms, giving them their strong identities. His focus is on the domestic bathroom, a space to which he has dedicated most of his production, starting from his degree thesis.

He established a fertile partnership with Antonio Lupi Design, giving light to numerous products: the Babele outdoor fireplace; the Skema, Piano Fuoco and Filoskema wood-burning fireplaces; the Tabula multi-purpose storage unit; the Ago85 and Simplo freestanding washbasins (in Flumood and marble versions); the Mastello, Edonia and Dune bathtubs (the company's true icons); Calice semi-recessed Corian washbasins; and the Velo collection of slim round, rectangular and oval washbasins. His collaboration with Jacuzzi led to a precious line of wellness systems, including the Myway and Muse series of hydro-massage tubs and the Frame multifunctional shower cubicle systems with a Turkish bath.

In 2010, for Bitossi Ceramiche, he designed the Litigati family of vases characterized by a hat-like lid; in 2012, he created Ombre, a collection of red clay candlesticks, bowls and vases in elementary shapes. Collaboration with Nube Italia dates to 2007 when the Sophie sofa and the small Cyrcus tables were born. In 2015, he produced the Le Gerle line with Ethimo, following a competition held by the Catella Foundation and the Cometa school; these backpack/chairs are also containers. For Potocco, he designed the Velis collection of wood chairs, armchairs, stools, benches, small armchairs, and the Pipe family of extendable round and rectangular tables. He created the Giselle bed for Poltrona Frau in 2013 and for Living Divani, the extendable Step table and the Galileo mirror winning him the special mention in the 2016 Archiprodutcs ADA competition. He has received several awards, among which the Idee per la Luce competition in 2004 at the Cristalplant Design Contest in partnership with Antonio Lupi and in 2020 the Archiproducts Design Award for Keel, a small armchair designed in collaboration with Victor Vasilev for Potocco.
