The company begins its course in 1988 under the name 'DOMUS General Partnership' initially, with a shop at 92, Mitropoleos Street in Thessaloniki.
The soul and founder of the company, Christos Christodoulou, tries to introduce innovative and pioneer ideas in the furniture field to the city's prospective buyers. He is active in furniture import and trade from abroad, mainly from Italy.

In 1996 the company's name and trademark at the same time, changes into 'Area Domus' and a new shop is opened at 94, G. Papandreou Street. The shops' image follows clean, modern lines expressing the company's general philosophy. The window displays always suggest a feeling of quality and mirror the company's aesthetics.
In 1997 'Area Domus' extends to eastern Macedonia, by opening a franchise shop in Komotini.
Today, in the 'Area Domus' shops, many important names from the design field are represented such as: Kartell, Moroso, Porada, Desalto, La Palma, Flou, Kundalini, Foscarini etc, names that totally express the aesthetics and philosophy of the company. The constant update and monitoring of design trends, colors, technology and presentation bring the company among the first of its kind in Greece and abroad. Moreover, the proper customer approach and update before and after the sale by specialized staff, has led the company to being widely accepted by the public all these years.
In 2004 another step is taken showing the far sight through which the company perceives the future: it acquires the exclusive representation for all Greece for the Kartell company (a company considered and 'institution' in the furniture design and convenience items, signed by top designers such as: Starck, Arad, Citterio, Laviani and others) and opens the first Kartell Flagstore in Thessaloniki. Development follows rapidly.
In 2006, two Kartell Flagstores in Athens, the first at 14, Kifisias Avenue at Marousi and the second at 19, Irodotou Street at Kolonaki, prove that the company's presence has been and still is leading in the Greek market and that the company's philosophy is to always recommend new, modern trends.

A very crucial year for the global and specifically the Greece economy. Amidst the every-changing market situation, Area Domus decides to make a radical change in Thessaloniki. To relocate its offices and showroom to a larger place.
The new shop is 650sq.m large. Situated in the design district of Thessaloniki, often related as the top-spot of products for home furniture, lighting and architectural products.
The new showroom is designed by the talented architect Mr. Minas Kosmidis. Concrete walls and murals, steel and clean lines. Altogether make an exquisite industrial look. This is the style that highlights the design of furnitures and fixtures Area Domus.
The company is making a large investment in Athens and is renting a 400sqm store. in Chalandri, 180 Kifissias Ave. and creates the new flagship store of Kartell in Greece. It is one of the 5 largest Kartell stores in the world. On three levels the visitor can browse all Kartell products. Special section for professional furniture, bathroom and office furniture. 2020 The company deepens its cooperation with Sofa Company and rents a 500sqm store in Kalamaria, Thessaloniki, Adrianoupoleos 37. The largest sofa company in Greece now has a flagship store where prospective customers can see all its models.
